Arcadia’s Mediterranean climate—hot, dry summers and mild, wet winters—puts specific demands on roofing materials. Tile roofing performs exceptionally well here, which is why you see so much of it in the area. It handles UV exposure without degrading and provides excellent thermal mass.
Metal roofing is gaining popularity for good reason. It reflects heat instead of absorbing it, which can significantly reduce cooling costs during those 85+ degree summer days. It’s also fire-resistant, which matters in Southern California.
Asphalt shingles can work if they’re the right grade and properly installed, but they need to be rated for high UV exposure. The cheap stuff won’t last in this climate. We only recommend materials that we know will perform in Arcadia’s specific conditions.
